“Johnny 99” is from “Nebraska,” Springsteen’s underrated solo album released in 1982. The Boss’s take on desperation resonates anew in today’s bleak economic climate. Bruce held the hometown crowd hostage tonight: “The turnpike is closed – nobody goes home!”

Thanks for posting this. My husband and I were at this show, behind the stage in section 209 and the place was rockin’ during this song. It was great to see Bruce & Steve keep looking from the front of the stage to the back to keep whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Great show !
