The old and new were on display tonight. For the second time on this tour, Bruce performed “Mony Mony,” originally recorded by Tommy James and the Shondells in 1968, and later by Billy Idol in 1987. Jay Weinberg filled in for his father on drums for the entire show.

With the building slated for demolition later this year, Springsteen returned to The Spectrum in Philadelphia for two final shows. On the first night, an unusually well-crafted sign (actually seven separate signs held together) requesting “Fire” caught his eye, and the Boss complied.

This is the first ever performance of “Wild Thing” by Springsteen and the E Street Band. The song was written by Chip Taylor, and covered most famously by The Troggs and Jimi Hendrix.

In Boston, where he’s always enjoyed an especially strong following, Springsteen surprised the audience with a cover of The Ramones classic, “I Wanna Be Sedated,” the first time he and the band have played the song. The camera angle is poor, but the energy is great.
